Creating a Rhetorical Revision - Goal-Line Technology

My original plan was to create a TV commercial to be displayed during important games. The reason I needed to do a video is because it is hard to show a moving object in a picture. I could not download the videos I needed to create the TV commercial, so instead I decided to create a storyboard of the commercial. The problem and solution in my essay was addressed to the FIFA organization. I proposed making goal-line technology required in every official game that was played. In this TV commercial I want to address the entire football fans because they can create pressure to the organization to implement my solution. The TV commercial storyboard uses the most famous ghost goal during the 2010 World Cup. Everyone remember the pain that England suffered from this decision. Everyone also remembers how the FIFA president reacted to the referee actions. This will enable the fans to outrage against the football organization and ask for the goal-line technology to be implemented to every official match there is. FIFA is a democratic organization and often responds to fans requests. This is the reason I want to inform and remember the problems there is when there is no technology on the field assisting the referee. Everyone knows that humans are prone to errors. But fans also know that there are solutions available to reduce human errors. Football fans can start showing their interest towards goal-line technology to be implemented in every official game. Fans also have the right to know that FIFA has the financial power to implement this technology in every game. FIFA wins millions of US dollars in every World Cup that is held. Fans need to request that the money generated from these events is used to help the sport prospect in a fair manner. This TV commercial should start during the 2013 Confederations Cup this summer. This will give enough time for the fans to react and push the FIFA organization to adopt it to every official tournament there is by 2014.

Goal Line Technology

FIFA will officially use Goal Line Technology during theFIFA Confederations Cup 2013. FIFA has approved the official GLT provider: GoalControl GmBH. This system uses 14 high-speed cameras located around the field. The use of this technology is not to replace the role of the referee during to match, but to assist him while the decision making process that should be made in less than one second. This means that the referee will still have the maximum decision on the pitch. The problem with this technology is that during the testing face they did not do it with a full stadium. As a personal experience, every time I go to the stadium technology doesn’t work do to the vast amount of people in one designated area. My recommendation to fix this problem is to always test the systems 10 minutes before each game. This gives enough time before the game to successfully conduct a test when the stadium is full. The other recommendation I will give before this technology becomes part of the soccer world is to test it in all weather conditions and in all type of stadiums. Soccer is played in every type of weather and this can affect the decision. Also, each stadium is different. They range from the amount of people they hold to the height of the stadium where the cameras will be located.

Planet Pit - Rootless Rapper Finds His Rythm

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/23/arts/music/pitbull-the-rapper-releases-planet-pit.html?_r=2&adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1363798865-RPmK/yoT75CBmWtylcC/XQ

The article “Rootless Rapper Finds His Rhythm,” is a great example of constructive criticism. Jon Caramanica evaluates the transformation that the rapper Pitbull has gone through time. The reason I say this is a great constructive criticism is because Caramanica describes Pitbull by using example of his music and other rappers. He explains very well why he thinks Pitbull has finally found his area. “His sixth album, “Planet Pit,” completes his long transformation from crunk-era curio to dance-rap star,” said Caramanica.  He later states that his album is more of a hip hop album until Pitbull raps on it. This statement is a great explanation as to why Pitbull is now a dance-rap star. This example gets repeated in different forms throughout the article, explaining why Pitbull has made a great decision to change his style. Later in the article, to establish his point, Caramanica compares Pitbull to the Black Eyed Peas. This enables the reader to further understand why Pitbull has made a good change. He also incorporates parts of his lyrics to the article to establish a point of how Pitbull was raised in Miami with a Latin/American culture that is being reflected in his songs. This also reflects the title of the article.

Music Piracy: Moochers Are Also Big Spenders Within The Record Industry, Study Finds

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/16/music-piracy-biggest-spenders_n_1970242.html

Record companies always blame a decline on sales of music to the ‘music-stealing pirates.’ A study made by The American Assembly, affiliated with the Columbia University, explains that the music pirates are also the best consumer of the music industry.  The study shows that music aficionados living in the US and Germany provide a unique insight into the sharing habits of people. Some of the facts consist of 18 to 29 year-olds share more music than any other age group. It also explains that copying music from friends or family is the same as downloading music for free.  Besides all of these facts, The Recording Industry Association of America states that illegally downloading one song is devastating to the industry which leads to a $12.5 billion dollar loss in the music industry. They also say that in 1991the No.1 albums sold more, therefore the No. 1 album of 2012 have shrunk significantly. I believe this article takes a great stance in both arguments. It explains both topics with good facts, leaving the reader to make their own assumptions to music piracy. I believe that $12.5 billion dollars is a huge number, and that the study that backs up the article main point is not sufficient information to make a good point.  Another point I don’t agree with is that having music from friends or family is like downloading it for free. Both arguments can defend themselves, making this article great. I just believe that music piracy definitely affects the music industry.

Coldplay - The Scientist

Coldplay – The Scientist

I was attracted to “The Scientist” by another Coldplay song when I was researching music videos to do my blog. Coldplay was introduced to me by my favorite soccer team, FC Barcelona, back in 2008 with the song “Viva la Vida.” This song resulted to be one of my favorite songs, which made Coldplay one of my favorite groups. The music video of Coldplay, “Viva la Vida,” lacked persuasion, but a friend recommended this other song by the same group so I gave it a try. The music video is called “The Scientist,” has very strong characteristics of persuasion. At first, the video starts very simple, but as it passes by and you put attention to the words and the action by the singer, you can see that he is appealing to ethos. The reason I say this is because the singer has related his lyrics to the main plot of the video: a car wreck. So he has authority in saying what he feels. As to logos, the artist has made the video to be very logical by mixing the lyrics plot of going back in time to the start with the actual plot of the video. The hardest mode of persuasion was pathos. The artist might be using the emotions of himself to prove that nothing is easy to start. He tries to connect the viewer with the video by his lyrics and strong video plot. How do you believe the artist has used persuasion in this music video?
